My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:12This 9-year-old German Shepherd mix might not escape your heart once you meet him! At 72 pounds of pure charm (okay, maybe a little extra fluff), Houdini is a chubby bubby on a mission to shed a few pounds and find his forever home. Despite his age, Houdini has plenty of pep in his step. He enjoys leisurely walks, sniffing adventures, and playing gentle chase games with well-matched dog pals, or he’d be just as happy being your one and only. On a recent field trip, he was the perfect passenger in the car. On leash, he was a polite explorer, handling the new environment and passing people, kids, cyclists, and even other dogs with calm curiosity. He’s mastered a solid “sit” when treats are involved, and has an easygoing sweetness and independent vibe. Houdini would love a home that gives him space to relax, decompress, and soak up all the love he’s been missing.
