Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Introducing the Irish Litter of LARGE to EXTRA LARGE pups! These gentle giants were born 5/21/25, and arrived at the shelter when they were just 3 weeks old due to the death of their mother (suspected rattlesnake bite victim). Thanks to a team of amazing foster parents, the pups all made it through to solid food stage without any complications at all - hurray! Mama was reported to be an Irish Wolfhound/Mastiff mix, while a neighbor's Great Pyrenees/Anatolian admitted to a one-night-stand resulting in these cuties. It might be tempting to think "oh, I'll get one and leave it out in the back 40 to be a Livestock Guardian Dog!" Please do not fool yourself, and temper those expectations. These are orphaned shelter pups who have never known any sort of livestock, and are extremely human-oriented. If you want a trained LGD, you will need to put in a LOT of effort, with no guarantee of success. If you want a big furry snuggly couch potato, that is far more likely with these big babies. The litter, with their weights as of 7/22, includes: Tipperary - female, 13.84# Tralee - female, 14.9# Ballina - female, 17.04# Tullamore - female, 18.41# Balbriggan - female, 12.48# Athlone - female, 17.34# Killarney - female, 14.45# Galway - female, 17.14# Dublin - male, 17.68# Belfast - male, 16.3# Limerick - male, 17.2# Best guesstimate of adult weights would be between 90# - 130# Our staff and volunteers are hard at work trying to discern any definite pupsonality differences among these snugglebutts; let us know what sort of temperament you're looking for, how you see one of these pups fitting into your family, how much time they will spend indoors vs. outdoors and what other pets will be with them, and how much time they will spend with their humans... and we'll try to match you up with the pup of your dreams! We haven't even begun to try to ID the pups individually in the below video... all 11 of them are in there, we know that much. It's chaos in the pup yard, I tell ya - pure chaos. DELIGHTFUL chaos, but still chaos. Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet, and will reward their forever people with boundless love and loyalty! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $175 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Killarney, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
