My story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue:  07/03/25 Reason for being in rescue: Abandoned by owners who were prosecuted for animal cruelty Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Kobe is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Kobe arrived in rescue with no records. Our best guess is that he is a shih tzu mix. He definitely has the shih tzu sass. Only a DNA test will tell his full DNA. We cannot guarantee he is hypoallergenic or will not shed.  Weight: 15 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Kobe would thrive in a calm home, with people who speak softly, love deeply, and understand that healing takes time — but the reward - A little lionheart who will protect your peace, sunbathe by your side, and look at you with eyes that say, “I trust you now.” Kobe is equal parts loving and sass. He is not suited for an experienced pet owner or first-time dog owner. Children are a no for him. He's a great dog that needs patience, consistency and calm. What is my personality like? Meet Kobe – The Loyal Little Lion with a Tender Heart. Kobe is a Shih Tzu mix with a heart that beats for one thing above all else: trust. For this fluffy little gentleman, trust isn’t just important — it’s everything. It’s the bridge between his wariness and his wonderfulness, and once you’ve earned your place in his heart (which honestly doesn’t take long), you’ll have a fiercely loyal friend for life. Petting is sacred in Kobe's world — it must be gentle, it must be respectful, and once approved, it becomes his favorite form of communication. He’s not super into being picked up or over-handled right now (we get it — same), but with time and understanding, he’s learning that human touch can be safe and soothing. For these reasons Kobe is not child or kid appropriate. Where Kobe really comes alive - On the leash. This little man LOVES his walks. He struts his stuff like he’s headlining a fashion show for scruffy cuteness, and he’ll happily bask in the sun by your side afterward like he’s soaking in life’s best moments. He may not always want to be in your lap, but he’ll stand loyally at your feet, quietly guarding his human kingdom and watching the world go by with the wisdom of an old soul. Now let’s talk about the elephant in the grooming room: Kobe and clippers are not on speaking terms. Grooming is loud, it’s invasive, and it brings back memories he’d rather forget. He came to us severely matted — a sign that grooming was never handled with care in his past. So, he’ll need a very patient and gentle groomer, someone who understands that kindness builds trust, and trust builds peace. With the right person, Kobe can learn that spa days aren’t so scary after all. If you're looking for a companion who needs you as much as you need him — and who values loyalty and quiet love — Kobe’s waiting. How do I act when I first meet new people? Kobe can come off a little aloof at first — kind of like a tiny royal who's unsure whether you’ve brought him tea or treachery. But give him a moment, show him kindness, and he’ll soon decide you’re worth loving.  Other tips and tidbits: Kobe arrived in rescue with no history. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 1 year. We celebrate his birthday 06/20/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. July 23, 2025, 11:41 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kobe Jul 25, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
