My story

Meet Vinegar, the female black kitty. Vinegar came into the Shelter as a stray so we don’t know much about her life prior to the Shelter. She was a little nervous when she first arrived but has opened up with time and patience. Vinegar would thrive in a home as the only cat as she has had big feelings about the cats in the Shelter’s care that she can see out her kennel. After a period of acclimation, Vinegar may do well in a home as an indoor/outdoor cat. Vinegar`s adoption fee is reduced by $20 thanks to the Bogey Fund - a fund that draws adopter`s eyes towards often overlooked black cats in Shelters.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
