My story

**Meet Rocky****Surrendered by his family, now searching for a peaceful retirement home.**Rocky is a gentle, elderly brindle boy with a face full of wisdom and a heart still open to love. At approximately 10 years old, he was surrendered to ACC by a family member who could no longer care for him. Despite his age and a rough start-rescued from a suspected fighting situation years ago-Rocky has blossomed into a sweet, calm, and affectionate companion.---**My ideal home**Rocky would love a quiet, cozy home where he can lounge in peace and take short daily walks. He's a low-key guy who enjoys human companionship but appreciates his space. A calm environment with slow introductions to new people and routines will help him feel secure.---**Good with kids?**Rocky has lived with adults and has been tolerant and friendly around older children, but due to his age and handling sensitivity, we recommend a home without children under 5. He may do well with older, respectful kids who can give him the space he needs to warm up.---**Good with other pets?**He's been playful with familiar and unfamiliar dogs while on leash but hasn't had off-leash experience. He previously spent time with two small dogs. We don't have information about cats.---**Leash manners**Rocky walks beautifully on leash-no pulling, no fuss. Just a leisurely stroll with a senior gentleman.---**Overall health**Rocky weighs 72 lbs and is in good health for a dog his age. He's had a few soft stools and was prescribed psyllium husk to help. He's also experiencing some hearing loss and has missing teeth, so wet food is his preference. Due to his age, he's been given a permanent waiver from being neutered. He is heartworm negative and up-to-date on core vaccinations.---**Behavior determination: Level 2**Rocky is a mellow soul, but he gets nervous with sudden touch or handling-flinching or backing away. He's not aggressive but appreciates a respectful approach. He'll need a patient adopter who understands how to build trust over time and respects his cues.---**Other notes & fun facts*** Rocky was a total sweetheart at intake-wiggly, seeking affection, and soaking up gentle pets.* He doesn't love car rides and isn't crate trained but is used to 15-minute walks a few times a day.* He enjoys affection on his own terms-he'll come to you when he's ready.* Despite being older, he still has that "puppy dog eyes" charm that melts hearts.---Rocky may be a senior, but he still has so much love to give. If you're looking to give a sweet old soul the retirement home he deserves, come meet Rocky and let him steal your heart. Primary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 72.6 Age: 10yrs 0mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rocky, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
