My foster writes:Meet Lucy - a kind, cool, fun, and brilliant girl who is looking for a human as sweet and loyal as she is. She's easy-going, affectionate, and beautiful! Lucy is always getting compliments on her looks when she's out on the town (even once from a celebrity).Pro #1: Smart as a whipTo say Lucy is a fast learner is an understatement. In just one week with her foster parents, she picked up several commands (sit, down, stay) and quickly let go of her few minor bad habits (like being a little mouthy when excited or jumping to greet new friends). She also picked up on routines almost instantly. For example, after just two trips outside, she figured out that her foster parents like to wipe her feet before coming inside and now patiently waits and offers each paw, one at a time. What a star.Pro #2: Sweet and considerateLucy is a gentle soul. She isn't needy, but loves a good snuggle. If you're sitting on the couch, she'll quietly walk over and rest her head on your lap, greeting your smile with a big tail wag and tilting her ears back for a pet. If you're working from home or doing chores around the house, she's happy to plop herself on the floor nearby for a nap - just close enough to keep an eye on you, but never in your way.And she's not just affectionate - she's polite, too. When she came to her foster home after getting spayed with a bit of a cough, she would excuse herself to her crate or blanket whenever she needed to clear her throat. She doesn't shed a lot and is also completely house-broken (zero accidents inside). Thoughtful and tidy!Pro #3: Calm and confident in any situationLucy is non-reactive on walks. She can stroll through crowded city streets, past barking dogs and loud noises, without breaking her stride. Her leash manners are excellent, and her focus is next-level. This makes her the perfect picnic buddy - she'll lie calmly by your side for hours without stealing a bite (though she'd happily accept one if offered). She also does well sitting by your feet at outdoor restaurants, with a few treats to hold her over.Lucy is very comfortable around adults. We haven't tested her with children, but she's yet to meet someone she doesn't like. She came to the shelter from a home with one adult and one child. We're not sure how she is in close quarters with other dogs, but doesn't mind them outside.Pro/Con #4: As loyal as they comeLucy's biggest strength is also her greatest challenge: she adores her humans. She struggles with some separation anxiety and wants to be near her people as much as possible. That said, she's made incredible progress in a short amount of time with crate training and learning to be okay on her own. She just needs a little more practice, patience, and love to build her confidence.Favorite Things- Favorite toy: Squeaky plushies (to pull the stuffing out of)- Favorite treat: Chicken (recovering grass nibbler outside)- Favorite hobby: Napping in front of a fan/sun, splaying like a frog Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 37 Age: 2yrs 1mths 1wks
