My story

Current Location: Dover, PA Meet Lucky Loo Lucky Loo is a smart, affectionate girl with a curious spirit and a love for the outdoors. She has a medium energy level and enjoys daily walks, exploring the yard, and soaking up sunshine in her favorite outdoor dog bed. She’s just starting to discover the fun of toys and chews, and she’s always keeping an eye on the birds, neighbors, and chickens - she doesn’t miss a thing! Energy & Personality Lucky Loo is a strong, fast walker who gets excited when she’s out and about. She loves her people and prefers to be near them, often seeking out a warm lap to snuggle into. While she is affectionate and sweet, she can get pushy when seeking attention or when frustrated during walks, occasionally jumping up to communicate her feelings. She’s very smart and has even figured out how to work gate latches! Training & Behavior She’s making good progress with house training and has had several accident-free days. Lucky Loo was initially scared of indoor living, suggesting she may not have lived inside before, but she is adjusting well. She’s also working on crate training - she used to enter willingly, but now needs some encouragement. Once inside, she settles in just fine. Social Life Lucky Loo gets along with adults and enjoys being around her people. She can be a rough player, so she would not be a good fit for a home with young children. Her interactions with other dogs are enthusiastic - sometimes too enthusiastic for more sensitive companions like her current lab foster sibling. A dog-savvy canine companion who can set boundaries would likely be a great match. She hasn’t been tested with kids or cats, but with chickens, she shows curiosity without aggression, lying down quietly to observe. Special Traits Lucky Loo is both observant and adventurous. She loves being outside, watching the world, and relaxing in the yard. Indoors, she’s finding her comfort zone and learning what it means to be part of a home. Her clever mind and big heart make her a truly special companion. Best Home Fit Lucky Loo would thrive with an active family who enjoys the outdoors and has a securely fenced yard. A home with dog-savvy adults and possibly a confident dog companion would be ideal. She’ll do best with adopters who appreciate her intelligence and are committed to helping her continue to grow into the loving, well-mannered pup she’s meant to be. Veterinary Care Lucky Loo has visited the veterinarian for a health certificate and is: - Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations - Spayed - Microchipped - On heartworm preventative - On flea and tick preventative - Treated for worms and parasites * This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read about heartworm disease here: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucky Loo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
