My story

Meet Chewbarka — A Gentle, Loving Boy Ready to Be Your Best Friend Chewbarka is a 2-year-old, 42-pound Australian Shepherd mix with a sweet spirit and a heart full of love. Fully house-trained and well-mannered, he’s been a dream in his foster home—no kennel needed. He sleeps peacefully in the bedroom (just not on the bed) and is happiest when he’s close to his people. This handsome guy walks beautifully on a leash and is working on his basic commands—he’s got a solid start on “sit” and is eager to master “shake.” Chewbarka is a gentle soul who’s friendly with other dogs and even gets along with cats (though he might be a little nervous around them at first). He hasn’t met young children yet, but with his calm and affectionate nature, his foster believes he’d do well with kids aged 5 and up. Chewbarka is the kind of dog who rolls over for belly rubs, melts into your lap for cuddles (yes, he thinks he’s lap-sized), and thrives on companionship. He’s described as friendly, outgoing, adaptable, happy, and loyal—the perfect blend of mellow and loving. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s as content snuggling on the couch as he is exploring by your side, Chewbarka is ready to be your forever sidekick. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
