My story

Big Beth is a gentle giant with a heart as big as her paws. Found calmly resting on someone’s porch, she’s clearly been through a lot but is ready to trust again. When first approached, Beth was a bit shy, but with some baby talk and patience, she followed her handler outside and quickly showed her sweet, affectionate side. In the yard, Beth leaned in for cuddles, sat politely for treats, which she takes ever so gently, and showed off her smarts! She appears to already know “sit!” BB prefers slow introductions and she’s incredibly easy to handle once she feels safe. This lovely girl is ready for a calm, loving home where she can truly shine. Come meet her at ACCT Philly open daily from 10 am to 6 pm BEHAVIOR: 07/24/2025 volunteer notes: Kennel Presence: When I approached her kennel, she came right up to the front with a mid-level wagging tail and pretty loose body language. I dropped a few treats which she picked up immediately. When I opened the kennel door she was shaking and when I put my leash towards her, she allowed it at first, and then started to back up when the leash was only around her snout. Used her paw to gently take the leash off of her snout it was very cute and gentle! She laid back down on the bed and I stepped a foot in and leashed her while laying down. Leash: Encouraged her with some baby talk and she stepped right out of the kennel, but was actively pulling to get away from me. Outside, she was still pulling trying to get into a play yard so we went in there. Handling: At first was avoidant of me and sniffing around with loose body language. Then she came and solicited pets sitting right in front of me and leaning up against my legs. She seemed to take pets all over! Very affectionate and gentle girl in the play yard l- she loves cuddles and takes treats so incredibly well. She seems to know sit and very treat motivated. No issues going back into her kennel and unleashed very easily with the clip method.
