My story

Meet Afton – The Tilted Little Treasure With a Heart on the Mend 🐾💙 Once a quiet shadow on the sidelines, now a rising star in the making—Afton is a petite grey-and-white sweetheart who’s learning that life indoors can be soft, safe, and maybe even filled with love. Afton came to us through a TNR (Trap–Neuter–Return) program, and while his life may have started outside, something about him said “I’m ready for more.” And we believed him. He’s still learning to trust humans, but day by day, paw by paw, he’s making brave steps toward friendship. One of the first things you’ll notice about Afton is his adorable head tilt, the lasting result of an old ear infection. It doesn’t cause him any pain—if anything, it just makes him look extra curious, as if he’s always asking, “Did someone say treats?” (The answer is probably yes, and he's listening very closely—in his own way.) We also believe Afton may be hard of hearing. He often doesn’t react to sudden noises or voices the way other cats do, and that may help explain why he takes in the world so cautiously. It makes his journey toward trust all the more remarkable—he’s not just learning a new way of life, he’s navigating it with a slightly different set of senses. What he lacks in sound, he makes up for in heart, body language, and a quiet kind of bravery. Afton is a huge fan of toys, treats, and catnip—basically anything fun and flavorful. He may not run to you for pets just yet, but show him a wand toy or crinkle ball, and he’ll be wobbling after it with charming determination. His playful spirit is fully intact, and he’s improving every single day. Best of all, Afton absolutely adores other cats. He lights up in the company of friendly feline companions—snuggling, playing, following their lead, and growing more confident thanks to their example. We’re certain he’ll thrive in a home with a calm, social cat friend to guide him.
