Daphne is as sweet as they come. She can be a little timid when you first meet her, especially in her kennel, but once outside and feeling safe, her personality shines. She has done beautifully at adoption events—calm, sweet, and friendly with adults and children who stopped by to say hello. She even had an overnight slumber party with a volunteer, where she slept soundly in her crate and proved herself to be a snuggly, affectionate lovebug. She’s a loving, people-oriented girl who wants nothing more than to be near her humans—whether that’s lounging on the patio, tagging along for a car ride, or happily soaking up belly rubs. Inside the home, Daphne has shown wonderful manners. She’s house-trained, non-destructive, and settles nicely whether resting in her kennel or snoozing nearby. She’ll follow you from room to room like a little shadow, always keeping a gentle eye on her people.Though calm and easygoing indoors, Daphne has plenty of zest outside. Don`t let her little meatball physique fool you, this girl is nimble! She loves walks and exploring. She is very good walking past other dogs, and is not reactive to them. She does get excited for squirrels and other small critters, and will pull on her leash when excited. She’ll need a confident handler and continued training to help her improve. A secure fenced yard where she can relax and sunbathe would be a big bonus!Daphne has had a blast on her Dog’s Day Out adventures with volunteers! She hops right in the car and is a very polite passenger. She walked beautifully on leash while exploring trails, visiting a bookstore, Starbucks, and Petco—where she quickly became a crowd favorite thanks to her sweet nature. She soaked up attention, happily gave kisses and snuggles, and proudly showed off her “sit.” On another outing to Goucher College, Daphne enjoyed strolling the campus with her trademark mix of energy and charm, once again impressing with her loose-leash walking skills and irresistible cuteness. She also recently went to a park where she enjoyed running and rolling in the grass. She was described as being loving, caring and awesome! For her most recent outing, she went to Latrobe Park, she showed how sweet, gentle, well behaved and loving she is. She enjoyed some tasty treats. Daphne is a good listener and very mild mannered. She has met other dog pals at BARCS and seems to do best with gentle companions, including polite interactions with smaller dogs. Cats, however, are
