Benny

My story

Benny has a story and we wish he could tell us about all of the adventures he has experienced. The sad part is, we are sure the adventures were more about surviving than living. Benny was picked up on the streets of San Antonio, Texas. He did not have any fur. His skin was raw and flaking. His eyes were crusted over and very telling of the pain he has endured. Animal Control picked him up and brought him to the high kill shelter. He was placed on the euthanasia list (because thats what they do in Texas). We saw his picture and felt his despair. We needed to save his life and make sure that his next chapter would be filled with life's BEST adventures. He saw a veterinarian and received a clean bill of health. He is now with our wonderful foster friends in New Ulm, Texas. We DO adopt out of state and our transporters can bring our pups to their forever homes! We have learned so much about Benny while he has been with our friends Kathy and Lee. First, we learned that he is a VERY good boy at bath time! His fur is growing in and everyday, you can see less and less of his skin. Oatmeal baths and proper care go a long way. We have also learned that Benny loves other dogs! He and his friend William love to hang outside and run around together. Sometimes they will even have a nice romp and then lie together on the porch at night. Benny LOVES to roll around in the grass at his foster home. He gets out there, flops himself on the ground and gets to rolling! He shakes off the grass while he gallops away with a wiggle and a smile. Benny is around 5/6 years old and he would love a family of his own! He is good with cats and dogs. He is a little rough when taking a treat out of your hand but this is something his foster moms are working on with him! He is actually very smart and is learning "gentle" quickly.
