Elkin joined Healing Hearts last February as an emaciated, under socialized mess. His lens was fear – of people, places, noises – basically everything. He spent his first three weeks under his fosters’ bed and wanted nothing to do with people. Elkin has worked so hard to change his outlook on life and is truly a new dog. He still struggles, at times, with fear, which comes out as hiding or running away, but has never had any aggression. Elkin now loves his people and is a loyal companion. He prefers to be near his people; he can be described as steady, gentle, and calm. Elkin requires a secure fenced yard, as he still will run away if given a chance. He comes for pets, loves walks, enjoys laying around in the yard, and will lay near his people. Due to Elkin continuing to work on his lens of fear, another confident dog is required in his forever home. Elkin takes his cues from other dogs, and this will continue to improve his confidence and understanding of how to dog. Elkin’s transformation has been incredible; he is looking for a family who will continue this journey with him. It is evident Elkin wants to be loved by people and has so much love – and kisses – to give. He is a dog who will steal your heart. Adoption fee: $395
