Oscar, an adorable 4-month old kitten, has overcome his less than ideal start to life, and is now looking for a forever family with his brother, Jack. Oscar was born early this spring to a mom who had lived life on the streets with very little trust for humans. Consequently, she spent the early weeks of her babies' lives, showing them that humans were scary and keeping their distance was necessary for survival. When Oscar and his littermates made their way into a foster home, they were skinny and scared - spending most of their time hiding from humans huddled together in a little ball. We have worked hard over the last few months, trying to convince this litter of kittens that humans aren't always scary. They have grown by leaps and bounds and made so much progress, but our guy Oscar is the most stubborn of all and still tends to be the one who hang back and keep his distance. He has come so far, and now spends quite a bit of time curled up by people's feet and even allows pets when he's feeling extra friendly, but we think he is going to need some patience when he finds his family to continue to learn to trust and show us his whole personality. Now that the hard stuff is out of the way, let's get into all of Oscar's great qualities that make us think he's going to be a wonderful cat! This little guy is incredibly playful. He can make ANYTHING into a toy, from a ball of fuzz to a pen from the counter - you name it, Oscar has chased it around the house. He has mastered the sibling stealth attack, hunting his littermates silently and then pouncing when they least expect it. He absolutely adores other cats and has come to be quite social with dogs as well. Oscar's best friend in the world is his brother, Jack. Jack is his polar opposite, but they complement eachother so well. While Oscar is a short-haired shy boy, Jack is a fluffy snuggle bug. We've watched Oscar learn from his brother that making friends with people IS possible, and we are sure that keeping them together forever will continue to help Oscar grow and thrive as a people cat. We are so hopeful that someone will welcome this adorable duo into their lives and allow Oscar to take his time warming up, while showering Jack with all the love and affection they can offfer in the meantime. These two do well with other cats and dogs. They do well with respectful, cat saavy chidlren as well. The ideal home for this pair is with someone that has had cats before and knows how best to build a relationship with the shyer ones - someone patient who is SURE to be rewarded in the end! Oscar and Jack MUST be adopted as a pair. We will NOT separate them. Cats are negative for FelV/FIV, receive age-appropriate vaccines and deworming, are spayed/neutered and are microchipped (free lifetime registration with adoption). All of our pets go home with a "Go Home Goody Bag" that includes a starter supply of food, treats, toys, and a voucher for a free month of pet insurance from Trupanion.
