My story

Meet Ghost, a young pup who was found in an abandoned living room unfortunately covered in bite wounds. He was very scared when he was picked up and understandably scared when he got to the shelter, but during the few weeks he's been here, we've seen him come so much out of his shell! Sweet Ghost is extremely affectionate and just wants to love on you. It doesn't seem he's been given much training but he's very treat motivated and eager to learn! He's teaching for a patient human to show him the ropes and show him that he's safe. Ghost is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet him any day from 10am-6pm! Video: Cuddling Ghost: https://youtu.be/KgXpX1w83gI Behavior Notes: Per Volunteer 8/11/25: When I approached his kennel, he was jumping up on the door and was trying very hard to get out as I open the door so took a bit to be able to get my leash near him. Once I didn’t get my leash inside, I kept getting tangled on his paws because he was jumping up so much. He is definitely trying to get out of the kennel. He is quite jumpy for attention and tries to solicit pets by jumping up on you with his front paws. He’s very trea motivated and tries to jump up to get them. We took a little to work on sit and he ended up getting it and took the treat very gently out of my hand. Affectionate boy who just wants attention. Upon unleashing, he actually barged out of the kennel and was just hanging out in the iso room off leash. He allowed me to try to grab him, and ultimately had to throw treats in the kennel for him to get back in then shut door quickly. Per Staff Behavior Eval 7/27/25: Kennel presentation: Low tail wags, wide whale eye, lip Licks, head low, trembling. Easy to leash using treats, sat on the bed and front feet came off it a few times and then retreated. Opened the door wide and used treats and gentle leash to exit kennel Leash skills: Walked on a loose leash, eyes darting, ears pasted back tail Low and still. Mouth closed. Sociability: I sat down and he stayed at the end of the leash with tail Down and ears back. I offered treats and he took it gently, and approached into my space. Touched all over this body in short increments, he was neutral And did not solicit attention. A male volunteer offered treats and he approached and took them, then walked a few steps and then tucked his tail, and pulled hard towards the door to go back inside. Play: Did not do Return to kennel: Easy Color level: Blue Per Staff 7/26/25: Young and not use to being outside or on a leash. Lived with multiple dogs. Afraid, low growls but doesn’t bark at you, puppy confusion as to say who are you. Warms up you fast. Medical Notes: 7/27/25: Subjective Bite wounds noted at intake Objective Eyes WNL Ears - crusted over wounds on pinnal flaps, no evidence of otitis Mouth - MM pink, healthy dentition Skin - excoriations and puncture wounds noted on face/neck, forelimbs, and ventrum; haircoat otherwise healthy LN WNL Heart, lungs auscultate WNL Abdomen - soft, non-painful Testicles WNL Lean but well muscled No lameness noted at time of exam. No crepitus, swelling or instability noted on palpation of limbs, but does have several healing wounds on the distal aspect of the left forelimb.
