My story

Meet Chewy! He’s a 6-year-old, 65 lb doodle mix with a goofy, playful personality and plenty of energy. In Chewy’s early life he didn’t always get what he needed. Not enough food, space to play, or love. Chewy is now a little overzealous with his love of life. He likes to eat fast, snuggle, jump for joy, run and have as many adventures as he can. He loves to destroy a dog toy (but he’s not destructive in any other ways!) he loves to play with other dogs, but doesn’t always read other dogs personal boundaries. Same with people, Chewy will climb into your lap and snuggle you all day. That being said he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.  Chewy’s strengths are that he will be submissive in a pack of other dogs. He’s crate trained (and will come with his giant crate). Chewy loves to hike, swim, ride in the car. Give kisses. He’s potty trained. He shows great potential for training as he really wants to be good, listen and he’s very treat motivated. Chewy is pretty good off leash, and always comes back when called. Chewy could absolutely live with or without other dogs.  Things Chewy is working on: impulse control. He gets so excited when there is love and attention coming his way. He knows a few basic commands but would greatly benefit from a whole training program. He doesn’t always read the signs that other dogs don’t want to play.  Chewy will need regular grooming, but his straight coat is easier to manage than most doodles, he does well for home grooming, but may need to be medicated to have his nails cut. He recently had a large benign tumor removed from the back of his head. Chewy has not lived with cats or livestock, but his boundaries tell us he would probably chase something that would run from him.  Chewy is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.
