My story

Rocket is a very sweet kitten, who we found in a backyard with a severe front leg injury. Here is what her foster's learned after spending almost a month living with her. She is very playful. She enjoys playing with toys hung off the end of a string, and also crumpled up balls of paper. She absolutely loves it when you take cat treats and toss them in different directions, she’ll dart after the treat and consume it like a hunter. She especially loves freeze dried treats. This is a great way to burn off some energy if she is hyper. She also goes bananas for Churu treats! She likes it when you smear the Churu treat on a plate and let her lick it up.  She has cuddly moods, playful moods, and exploratory moods. Sometimes she rubs her face against your fingers and mouths them a little - but she never bites down and she has a relaxed body posture when she does this. We think it’s her way of exploring the world. She’s also somewhat vocal and has a range of meows she uses to communicate, from little high chirps to longer ones when she wants something from you. They are all adorable. After playing, she is good at settling. While you work, she will nap or quietly look out the window. But, she also loves getting attention, too.  When she first got to her foster home, she was extremely cuddly and very relaxed around them. We felt she saw us as a source of safety. Around the time of her amputation, she experienced some pain while in their presence, and became more wary of them for couple of weeks.  After a couple of weeks, her amputation was fully healed, and she seemed to have forgotten the fear she had developed. She LOVES her new body and loves being free of pain from her injured leg! After she healed and her fear of pain subsided, she was back to her cuddly, lovey, relaxed self with her foster's! She climbs into laps, rubs against people a lot, seems relaxed and wants to be near people, and loves playing. Sometimes when she plays she will get so into it, she starts hissing and growling while attacking her toy. We looked this up, and we learned she may be practicing keeping other cats away from her “prey.” It's very adorable to watch! Rocket is truly an amazing girl, and whoever adds her to their family will be so lucky. One really cute thing about her is that sometimes she makes biscuits with her one remaining front leg.  This cat needs to be adopted with an age-appropriate friend -- applications for them as a single kitten will not be answered.  August 6, 2025, 2:23 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rocket, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
