My story

Maya- Couch Cuddler Seeking Forever CouchIf you’re looking for a best friend who will stick by your side through thick and thin, Maya is your girl. This gentle, affectionate pup loves nothing more than being close to her favorite human — whether that means curling up next to you on the couch, snuggling in bed at night, or following you from room to room.  She might whine a little if you disappear, but she settles down as one of our volunteers discovered during a sleepover with Maya. Maya is a master of the simple joys in life: she gets excited for walks, is easy to leash up, and is potty trained. Rolling in the grass is her idea of a perfect afternoon, and she’ll happily accompany you on neighborhood adventures. She recently attended a big community event, greeting everyone with a gentle tail wag. She can be a little shy at first, but with a slow introduction, she warms up into a total sweetheart. Maya would prefer a home without cats and is selective about dog friends — she’s calm around them at a distance but can get protective if they get too close. If you’ve been hoping for a devoted sidekick who will be your couch buddy, walking partner, and bedtime snuggler, Maya is ready to roll into your heart (and maybe a patch of grass, too).This sweet girl recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine.  She wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as she gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, she’ll be ready to show us her silly side with other dogs.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out her playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too.
