My story

Hannah Montana ACCT-A-227186 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to  length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Hannah Montana must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by THURSDAY, AUGUST 21ST at 10AM. Should Hannah Montana's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Hannah Montana was found as a stray by a member of the public. While the finder said, initially, that Hannah "was aggressive when he approached her and with strangers," we think that might be more indicative of her fear in those initial, unfamiliar situations, as during her intake with our staff, she was noted to be, "friendly [and] allowed pets and leashing."  Intake memo 7/29 Did SO good during intake, solicited attention from everyone, giving kisses, leaned in for pets, lite restraint needed for vax. Behavior memo 7/30  Hannah Montana was at the front with her tail wagging and her eyes wide. She sniffed the leash as I put it in and was easy to secure. she came right out and pulled minimally. Once outside she went to the bathroom and sniffed around the yard, eating grass and marking. She was hesitant of me and did not like [it] when I stood up to approach her. I tried to see if she would approach me on her own and she didn't. she refused treats so I offered a squeaky toy and she came running over with a mid level tail wag. She grabbed the toy with wide dilated eyes and a stiff tail. She took it away and ran back and forth as if I was going to take it from her. She would come up close to me but as soon as I reached out she would flee again. She is a very nervous girl and seemed unsure how to play with me. She allowed me to get close to her once I was crouched down "crawling " towards her. She allowed all handling from me and let me grab the toy right from her. she started opening up once I was on her level and playing with her, jumping up on me gently. Returning her, she brought her stuffy and greeted a staff member with a loose body, receiving pets before becoming overwhelmed and leaving them. She walked right back into her kennel. Volunteer memo 8/4 Hannah Montana was easy to leash and take out of her kennel. She went to the bathroom multiple times once we got outside. Hannah Montana mostly walked close to me and was easy to manage. She knows sits and always followed that command. She wasn't all that interested in the treats that I offered her, but when she did take a treat, she took it in a very gentle manner. Hannah Montana loves having her back and butt scratched. She would sit at my feet or curl herself into my lap and lean in for more scratches. Hannah would also lie down on her belly or roll onto her side for belly rubs. I had no issue returning her to her kennel. We think that Hannah might be selective of other canine friends, as during a dog meet on 8/9, she "snarled and barked a little."  Playgroup notes 8/9: Hannah Montana was not steerable at the gate and bared teeth and snapped at a dog through the barrier. Decided to muzzle, she did lots of lip licking, corrected but was overall pushy.  We think Hannah Montana would do best in an adult-only home where she can be the center of attention, but also where she can feel safe with her person and focus on a routine and decompression.  Walksheet notes:  Per staff 8/16: Loves fetch. Per staff 8/12: Medium energy. Sweet, pulls to go to RR... Easily steerable. Per volunteer 8/6: Medium energy. Good girl. Per volunteer 8/3: Medium energy. Sweet + affectionate. Easy to walk. Loves scratches! Per staff 7/30: Medium energy. Interested in dogs through [the] fence. Sweet. Pulls, however, easily redirected. Per staff 7/29: Medium energy. Aloof. Strong, pulls on leash. We would really like to see Hannah Montana leave with someone who can commit to building her confidence, and respecting her cues. You could be the one! + Check out this video of Hannah Montana in Playgroup 8/9/25: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcnvoGYrJkIa6NUKNRaJkUb4bEiNskZ3S&si=Fxh21N1U_HoW6RyQ - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
