My story

Meet Major: A Friendly and Playful Shepherd Stud Looking for a Forever Home! 5yr old, 70lb Major came into North Central Animal Shelter in June of 2025. The shelter discovered he had a microchip, meaning he had a possible owner, but nobody came to claim him. He quickly started getting out into play groups with other dogs where he was described as being gentle and dainty, playful and social with other dogs, and friendly with people. Volunteers always described him as treat-motivated, non-reactive to other dogs, and excited to come out to spend time with them. Thanks to a dedicated foster, our team at Dog Coalition LA was able to get him out of the shelter and into a foster home in July. Major is thriving in his foster home. He is quickly learning wonderful manners including house training, crate training, and leash walking skills. He is playful and social, enjoys affection, yet will also settle and do his own thing when appropriate. He is fostered with a toddler whom he gets along with adorably, both smitten with her and respectful of her space. Major attends leash walking class with our team every week, where he is always excited to see his other dog and human friends. His foster parents describe him as medium-energy, satisfied with regular potty breaks and a 30-40 minute walk every day. We believe Major would be an excellent canine companion in a home with other dogs and/or children, though he could also thrive in a home as a solo dog. What You Should Know About Major: -A perfect 5 years old, 70lbs, balanced fella ready to be the perfect addition to his new family. -Social, friendly, and playful with both dogs and people (including kids!) -Could be a great adventure buddy able to tag along to all kinds of outings.
