My story

Hello! My name is Spud. I’m a shy but sweet guy looking for a cozy, patient home to call my own. I was rescued from the Central Texas floods along with my sister, and I’ve come a long way since then. When I first arrived, I was scared and completely shut down. The shelter was loud and overwhelming, but the amazing staff gave me the time and space I needed to feel safe. Slowly but surely, I started to blossom. I’m still a little unsure around new people, but I’ve learned that humans can be kind—and I’m learning to trust again. I love giving hugs to the people I know and although I adore playing with my sister, I’ve even started making new doggy friends! If you`re looking for a gentle soul with a big heart and lots of love to give, I just might be your guy. Let’s take it slow—and maybe grow together.The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is open every day from noon to 6pm (excluding limited holidays/events). You can meet our adoptable animals with the convenience of an appointment or as a walk-in. Appointments can be made by emailing adoption@wilco.org.In addition to our main shelter at 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX 78626, you can also meet adoptable dogs at our satellite location, the Red Poppy Adoptique, located at 110 W L Walden Dr, Georgetown, TX 78626.Interested in fostering a dog in need? Join our foster team at wilcotx.gov/390/Fostering and click on `Foster Questionnaire.`Looking for a fun way to make a difference? Try our Doggy Day Out program! Take one of our pups on an adventure for a few hours-giving them a much-needed break from the shelter while you enjoy some quality time. The program runs at both locations daily starting at noon.We always welcome your dogs to come and meet our dogs, too! We`ll see you soon at either location!
