**Meet Pershing — The Street-Smart Sweetheart Looking for His Safe Place** Little Pershing didn’t get the soft start every kitten deserves. Thrown from a car on a busy highway, he was lucky that a kind soul scooped him up near Pershing Street — where he got his name and his second chance. Pershing is a sleek black beauty with wide, watchful eyes and a heart still learning to trust. He’s not for the first-time cat owner — sudden movements and loud noises send him into retreat mode, and he may hiss just to say *“I need space”* — but it’s all bark, no bite. Give him patience, and you'll see the softer side: the treat lover, the toy chaser, the kitten who's been braver than most of us ever have to be. He does well with other cats and even dogs, and he’s slowly figuring out that the world isn’t always scary. What Pershing needs now is a home that offers consistency, compassion, and someone who truly *understands cats* — someone who can see past his fears and help him blossom into the confident companion he’s meant to be.
