Mika is a young, resilient pug who's still learning that the worldand peoplecan be safe and kind. She came to us scared and unsure, often darting away if someone even looked in her direction. While shes still a work in progress, shes making steady improvements each day. Her recent palate and spay surgery set her confidence back a bit, but shes already sounding better and bouncing back with that classic pug stubbornness and charm. Please note due to her personality she is not a candidate for an out of state adoption as she would not tolerate a flight in a carrier. Mika will need a patient home that lets her build trust at her own paceno rushing or forcing affection. At first, shed follow her foster mom around like a little shadow but bolt if approached. Now shes calm enough to hang out nearby without a fuss, and once shes comfortable, her goofy, lovable personality starts to shine. Shes shockingly fast for her size and moves like a bowling ball on pawsadorably clumsy and full of puppy energy. Shed do best in a home with another dog. Mika has always lived with other pups and is starting to enjoy playtime and cuddling with canine companions. Shes fine with both male and female dogs, indifferent to cats, and has done well around a baby. That said, a quieter home without kids or with older or gentle children is ideal, as sudden noises and movements still startle her. Housebroken with regular outdoor breaks, Mika is now working on her leash skills. She was initially stroller-bound to get to calmer walking spots, and while shes gaining confidence, she still pulls and needs positive reinforcement and continued training. Mika has a deep nose fold that will need regular care to prevent infection, and she prefers not to be crated for long but finds comfort in it when shes unsure. Ideally, shed sleep with her people or a dog buddy. Shes not quite ready to be anyones lap dog just yetbut rotisserie chicken might speed up the timeline. She is peak pug: classic features, the signature bark, a hilarious howl, and the kind of personality that wins you over slowly but completely. Mika is looking for her people. Could that be you?
