My story

Apply to Adopt Me! Meet sweet Sandy. This precious girl came to us from a home in rural Georgia where her people kept her outside on a chain. Despite this, she loves people, is house trained, and is a calm couch potato. She is such a gentle soul, and will lay next to you - or on you. She is 5 1/2 years old, and weighs 70 lbs., but she does not throw her weight around (she lives with a bull in a China shop 50 pound foster sister who is much “weightier” than Sandy LOL) She is great with other dogs and cats, but may not be chicken friendly. This wonderful girl loves everyone she meets. The only caution is for small kids is she does paw when she wants more attention because you dared to stop petting her. She's not much on toys, as she probably never had any, but loves treats and hard bones like antlers.  Sandy does not like to hang out outside. She will do her business then want to come back in. She will go on a walk and is great on car rides. She’s just now showing a bit more spring in her step when coming in from outside, so she may get over her desire to not be out. She should be crated if left alone until she learns that her people are returning - she knows, “kennel in” and it seems to be a refuge for her. She also sleeps quietly through the night in it. She’s been caught once with shoe laces, another reason for the crate when not home. She is scared of thunder and will retreat to a closet or another closed space for comfort, lately she’s been under the bed, but has done well in her crate too. She will be your best friend and loving companion, with doggie smiles and will be a wonderful member of your family. She is so love starved and deserves to know she's not a throwaway dog.
