My story

Meet Luna! She comes to us from a hoarding situation in Navajo county we took on in summer 2025 - she was one of 47 husky mixes on one property. She is a very shy girl with a lot of potential. She needs just the right person to help her come out of her shell and thrive - she will have so much love to give as she learns to trust! Initially, Luna was terrified in her foster home and didn’t even want to move. After a couple days, she gradually became more comfortable. Her foster describes her as lower energy but playful with other dogs. This may change as she gets more and more comfortable in time, but she is just taking a lot longer to become more of a normal dog than the rest. The only issues her foster described included jumping up on people she's comfortable with in greeting and counter-surfing for snacks at first. All things considered, she's doing pretty well adjusting to life inside a home - she even does well in a crate! Some of Luna’s favorite things are treats, belly rubs, cuddling, and being a lap dog! She still gets car sicks when she needs to go for rides, but this may improve with her anxiety as she continues to adjust to the live of a "normal" dog. Luna could fit into various household types. With her being timid, children will need to understand dog behavior and give her space as she adjusts. She hasn't shown any aggression at all and just freezes if she is uncomfortable, so we think most ages of kids would be ok so long as they know how to be with her. She would be best with at least one other canine companion to play with and give her some confidence. She is an affectionate girl who will absolutely blossom with time and patience! If you have any questions or would like to adopt Luna, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
