Now’s the perfect time to adopt! I’m one of the lucky pets featured in Clear the Shelters 2025! My adoption fee is reduced by $50 through September 15! Current Location: Charles Town, WV Hi! I'm Max! I am a Southern gentleman, easygoing, and loving. I love belly rubs, back massages, walks around the neighborhood, napping, and yummy treats. I am a certified coach potato! - House trained - Walks well on a leash - Dog and human friendly - Low energy Max is a special boy. He was rescued from a property in Mississippi where he was abandoned in the bitter cold. His brother unfortunately did not make it. He was very sick and hairless from extreme mange. His foster mom nursed him back to health. Max is now ready to be a loyal and devoted companion. Your best friend. All he asks is for love and care. I’m looking for my forever family! Included Veterinary Care: - Up-to-date on Vaccinations - Microchipped - Flea/Tick Preventative - Heartworm Preventative - Dewormer - Neutered This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
