My story

Meet Chanson! This guy will just melt your heart. And it starts with his backstory. Chanson had been living on a property with 40 other dogs when Hero got involved and brought him into our rescue. This beautiful lab/golden retriever mix was, to say the least, terrified when we first met him. Something in his background made him afraid...of new people he met, new dogs, and this new environment he now found himself in. He was sad and scared, which just made you want to love on this pup all that much more. And that was all that Chanson wanted. Within days this guy went from a timid boy, unwilling to leave his crate, unwilling to walk on a leash, not hungry, not trusting to....wow! This sweet soul has started to open up and let us see the real him. He's the sweetest, most loving thing out there. He loves people, and now just wants to be around you all of the time. He loves other dogs, and has made best friends with one of our other fosters, following him everywhere and always being up to play. He loves his toys and so far can distinguish a toy from a shoe. He walks on a leash like a champ, and now just walks patiently beside you with or without a leash. And his tucked tail now wags more and more each day. He's still learning to trust, as abrupt changes (certain loud noises, some rapid movement, etc.) can have him briefly retreat into timid, scared pup territory. That is happening less and less frequently, and for shorter and shorter periods of time. Chanson's new family will need to show him love, patience and consistency to help him be the best version of himself. Because when he's there, in that best version place, he is simply the best guy you could imagine. Chanson is about 9 months old and does well in a crate. He can be playful but also is good at relaxing and just hanging out. He is an absolute joy to be around, and he just makes you want to love him. He has so much life and love to share, and wants nothing more than a loving family of his own. He will do best with a fenced yard so he can show you just how fast he is, and will do great with a family with or without kids. Anyone who takes a Chance On, Chanson (get it?!) won't be sorry as he will make an amazing addition to your family! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
