My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 9th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $650   Meet the Mario Puppies   Born May 31st to Mama Rosalina (a charming Westie-Basset 30ish lb mix), the Mario puppies have been raised in a loving foster home where they’ve grown into healthy, happy, and social little characters. Now 8 weeks old, they’re ready to find forever homes of their own. Currently the pups are fostered in a group of 4 and a group of 3.   Like many rescue litters, this crew likely had more than one dad— because despite being siblings, they each have a look and personality all their own. What they share is a love of play, people, and each other. The Mario pups wake up around 6:30 a.m. ready to greet their people and start their day with playtime, meals, naps, and more play. They’re doing great with crate training and potty training, love the outdoors, and are learning to be respectful little housemates. Each has their own unique charm— but all three are full of love, joy, and puppy potential.   Luigi is a gentle soul with soft ears and softer eyes. He’s happiest curled up in your lap, getting cozy scratches and watching the world go by. On the quieter side, he still loves to romp with his siblings and say hello to the grown-up dogs in his foster home. Luigi is respectful, affectionate, and already picking up on cues like “come” and “leave it.” He’s an old soul in a puppy body.   Birdo is the brainy explorer of the bunch. She’s always the first to check out new things—bold but thoughtful, and totally attached to her people. She follows you everywhere, lets you know when she misses you, and loves a good lap nap during Zoom calls. She’s also a goofball who sometimes carries the water bowl around like a prized toy!   Bowser might have a tough-sounding name, but he’s a sweet, playful guy who starts and ends each day with a cuddle. He loves bouncing after balls, chasing sticks, and showing off his adorable head tilt when he’s curious. He’s independent when he needs to be, but always happy to snuggle up when the day winds down.August 10, 2025, 5:16 pm
