My story

**We cannot guarantee that Luna is allergy-friendly just because she doesn't shed.**   Don't let her resting grumpy face fool you, Luna is one sweet girl! Luna is estimated to be around 6 years old, and she  is a sweet, affectionate little lady who loves toys and her daily walks! She has the perfect amount of energy for someone who wants a lap dog, but also wants a buddy to explore the neighborhood with and convince them to go outside at least once a day. Luna is fully grown and weighs about 12lbs. Luna was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. A family never came forward for her, and she was so scared at the shelter, so we wasted no time to scoop her up and place her in a YCSPCA foster home. She has been thriving in foster care and is so ready for a fresh start with her forever family. Luna has the serious little face typical of a Shih Tzu, but is a fun-loving girl who loves to follow her foster mom around and get lots of attention. She’s very energetic and not only loves walks, but also likes to jump up on the roof of one of her foster mom’s doghouses, like Snoopy, to get a better view around the backyard. At least part of the day, you can find Luna snoozing in one of the two full toy boxes at her foster home - did we mention she loves toys? Luna has been in a home with other small dogs, but she seems like she might prefer to be the princess of the house. She may do well with a small, mellow male dog. We haven't seen Luna around cats, but she might do well with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Luna has done well meeting kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years and older. Luna appears to be housetrained and has been doing well sleeping in a crate overnight and while her foster mom is away. She has made it known that she would very much want to sleep in bed with you if you'd let her. Luna doesn't seem to have been taught things like sit and down, but she is an easy and well-mannered girl who could be a great first dog for someone looking for a fun-loving buddy. With proper exercise, she may do well living in an apartment. Luna has fur that grows like hair, and it requires regular brushing and routine professional grooming to keep it well-maintained and not get matted. Her new family should be prepared to take on this extra care and the costs of grooming. Luna is such an amazing little girl and deserves a family just as great as her. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Luna's adoption fee is $350.     Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.  For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. August 8, 2025, 1:35 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Luna, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
