My story

Shark Boy is cruising the seas looking for his forever ship mates! Could it be you? This playful fella was found wandering the street of Philly alone, and luckily was brought into the shelter for a fresh start! In his time at the shelter, he has cuddled up to volunteers and shown he loves playing with plush toys and eating beef and liver treats. Want to find out more about Shark Boy? Come meet him at ACCT Philly—open every day 10am to 6pm! Videos: Shark Boy plays with toys: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/RCSEsN158vQ Behavior Notes: STaff noted 8/8: Shark Boy had a good long hangout session with a volunteer in the volunteer office the evening of 8/8. He loves his toys, alternated between splooting for micronaps, entertaining himself by tossing and batting his stuffed toys and kongs around, and getting treats. He could get insistent for attention, occasionally overaroused (mouthy, once or twice attempting to mount) but was consistently responsive to being told "no" and taking away whatever was stimulating him (hands behind back, turning away). Tolerated all handling throughout, often leaning in for pets with lots of wiggles and flopping over for all the belly rubs. Volunteer noted 8/7: Shark boy - Shark boy (betterly described as MushMan) is the silliest sweetest most loving boy you can imagine. He is so much fun yet so manageable. this boy is the definition of medium energy. Kid you not, he takes little “micro naps” will entertain himself with some toys, especially squeaky toys, and also will let you know when he’s ready to play fetch! briefly, then followed by a serious “sploot” on the floor (total belly flop on the floor!) preferably on a human foot. If you’re looking to make the best decision of your life, adopt or foster shark boy. This mush man is the best! Staff noted 8/7:PGN: Steerable with water, neutral, tense but playful, curious Volunteer 8/6/25: Kennel Presentation: Sharkboy was lying down in his crate when I approached as I was reading the kennel card he remains sitting in his crate. When I melt down and reached for the leash, he stood up and started wagging his tail and doing little steps with his front 2 feet. Leash Skills: Sharkboy was easily leashed. He stood still and waited while the leash was placed over his head. Once placed over his head. He walked calmly out of his crate. Sharkboy walks well on a leash walking in front or next to the handler. Sharkboy mildly pulled towards another dog outside and was easily directed to remain on the path walking. His tail was mid to high level, and at times curled at the top when he was stopping to sniff. Sociability: Sharkboy was very interested in sniffing his surroundings. He spent a lot of time outside sniffing the grass and listening to the sounds by lifting his head towards the sounds as they occurred. while inside, Sharkboy really opened up! In the office, Sharkboy had a very wiggly body and would lean up against a handler for more pets. He nestled his head in the handler’s lap with an open mouth and his tongue sticking out. Sharkboy took treats gently, he enjoys beef and liver treats rather than peanut butter. Play & Toys Sharkboy was very interested in playing with a squeaky rope stuffed toy. He pounced on it and pawed at it, looking over to the handler often. His ears perked up and his head tilted when the squeaker squeaked. He kept himself entertained while doing so, stoping for the occasional sniff around the office Dog interaction (must be on video if meeting face-to-face): No other handler available at this time Returning to kennel: Sharkboy walked easily back to his crate as he is currently in a crate in the eval room. He stood outside of the crate for a moment, when gestured to walk into his crate, he did. Medical Notes: Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent.
