My story

Eye-eye, Captian Willie! Well... there is just one `eye` for Willie here, who arrived to the shelter with a right eye that had been badly damaged most likely from an upper respiratory infection. The eye was painful and was no longer able to see, so we surgically removed it. Due to Captian Willie`s healing sutures and permanent vision impairment, he will need to be indoors only in his future home, as he will not be able to see and respond to dangers such as cars, dogs, and coyotes as readily as a cat with two eyes. If you are ready to hop on board your next adventure as a firstmate, come down and sail away with Willie.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
