My story

We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 8/9/25 to NorCal, OR, WA, ID, and CO. We are combining our Trip up north with our trip cross country this time, so surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Lucy to our trip for the right home 💕 Meet our beautiful girl Lucy. She is a poodle/maltese mix. Yes, she is hypoallergenic and won't shed. She has the thick beautiful curly poodle coat. She weighs 18 1/2 lbs. She is slightly overweight, and could lose a few lbs but nothing daily walks won't fix ❤️ She is 3 years of age. Her birthday is 7/7/22. She is spayed, had a dental cleaning and polish at the time of her spay, is current on all of her vaccines, is microchipped, and had a wonderful exam with our vet who has cleared her to find a home all her own! She is crate trained, and currently sleeps in her crate at night. She sleeps all night very peacefully and without any fuss on her end. She would be just fine adapting to a bed aside yours, or in bed with you so whatever her sleeping arrangements are moving forward she will adapt just fine. Leash training is something that is new. Her prior owners were homebodies and never did much out of the home. When they did take her with them it was a quick trip in the car and back. They admitted to never having the need to walk her so it was just never introduced to her. They had her since she was a puppy, so leash training will definitely take patience, and understanding moving forward. We have introduced it to her here, but with this extreme heat we have been having she hasn't been amused with being outdoors at all so instead of her having a negative experience on the leash we decided to just leave it alone, and let that be the one thing her new family/adopter works with her on ❤️ She is house trained. She waits for us to let her out so we make sure to have a good schedule set up for her. She does enjoy having us outside with her, so we will wait for her to potty then come back in together. She just really enjoys having company in her life, wherever she is, doing whatever she is doing. So if you are looking for a friend that will be your shadow and appreciate your presence she is definitely your girl! She is a very calm, laid back, easy going, serene tempered, and naturally calm sweetheart of a girl ❤️ She isn't high energy at all, and has more of an old soul ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ She LOVES belly rubs and will go belly up if it means you will stop what you are doing to give her some ❤️ She will scooch over to where you are sitting after just one pet to let you know that one pet is never enough. She enjoys being loved, and soaks it up in a very sweet admirable way. She is not a barker at all. She just doesn't really care about noises and knows she is safe with her person. She is very confident when she knows she is loved and taken care of so we make sure to do it extra well! I truly can't say enough great things about her. She is a true gem, and while I know she will be sad to have to say another goodbye to us here we are confident that once she knows she is with her next family for life her heart will once again be filled with joy and happiness that willl last her a lifetime ❤️ Her owners had their adult children moving back in that had bigger dogs, that weren't very friendly to other dogs. They knew she wouldn't be in a situation with them where she would be safe, and they had to put their kids first as they had no where else to go so they asked us to take her in and find her a great new home so here we are! Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_lucy-1Lucy ❤️ It covers her spay, vaccines, microchip/registration, dental cleaning and polish she had done, along with her antibiotics given to aid in the healing of her spay and dental. It also covers her exam which went perfect! As always it also covers the months of care, grooming costs, and training we have personally done with her ❤️

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
