Meet Oreo – The Sweet Survivor with a heart as big as his paws. Oreo is a big-hearted 5 year old bruiser with a past full of hardship and a spirit full of love. Life on the streets wasn’t kind to Oreo—he survived being hit by a car and even shot at (x-rays show tiny pellets in his rear leg). But despite it all, Oreo never lost his gentle soul. When rescued, Oreo didn’t know human touch—but he allowed his caregivers to treat him, medicate him, and even trim his nails without a single growl or hiss. His foster family says he's one of the calmest, most affectionate cats they’ve ever met. He adores cheek rubs and will lovingly nuzzle his meaty face against yours. And while he’s a big boy, Oreo chirps and meows like a kitten—but purrs like a truck! And yes, that’s a big heart-shaped marking on his left shoulder… proof that he truly wears his heart on his sleeve. Oreo’s Ideal Home Oreo is looking for a peaceful, loving home where he can finally enjoy the comfort he’s missed out on for so long. He's initially cautious with new people (can you blame him?) but once he knows you're one of the "good guys", he'll give you his whole heart, purring, nuzzling and taking naps on your lap. He’s great with other cats and is being introduced to a dog in his foster home. Whether you're a first-time cat adopter or a seasoned feline fan, Oreo will be a calm, loyal and loving companion. About FIV Oreo is FIV positive, but don’t let that worry you. Cats with FIV can live long, happy lives and can safely live with other cats, especially when properly introduced. Oreo requires no special medications or treatments—just regular vet care and a family to love him. This pet is located in Houston, TX. After you fill out the application, and become an approved adopter, we will schedule a virtual meet and greet with the foster and Oreo. After that, we will make arrangements to have the pet transported by van or flown to the Seattle area. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee and there is no additional costs to adopter. The process of arranging the travel and getting the animal here, on average, takes 2-4 weeks, depending on availability of the transporters and your availability to meet them. We understand this process is not as easy as walking into a shelter and immediately adopting a pet, but getting animals out of Houston and the surrounding areas is the only viable chance many of them have, so we appreciate your understanding. We do not accept ANY adoption fees ahead of the pet's arrival, until the pet is with you. We also understand adopting a pet you have not seen in person can be a bit worrisome, especially if other animals are involved. During the adoption process we do our best to convey the personality and allowances of each pet. This is where the foster's involvement is vital. The fosters have the animals often for an extended period of time, and have gotten to know them well. In saying that, not everything is predictable. If things are not what you expect, we have resources on the Seattle side to take the animal back. If possible, we would appreciate, if the situation allows, for you to foster the pet until a new home is found. If that is not possible, we also understand that, and will take them back regardless. This kitty is up to date on vaccinations and is has been spayed or neutered. Oreo’s adoption fee is 195.00.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Oreo-Buddy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
