Name, age, breed: Lucy, 2 years, Mastiff/Shepherd mix (large)Likes: walks, car rides, food, treats, attention, toys, bones, bum scratches, playing with foster brotherDislikes: nails trimmed, not getting enough attention! What would be the ideal home? active home that can exercise her regularly and help her learn and adjust to the world around her that she is still learning about, fenced yard, no apartments due to barkingGood with other cats? Unknown, but does have high prey drive so not recommendedGood with dogs? yes, lives with a medium-sized foster brother that she follows, learns from and plays with regularlyGood with children? Teenagers, yes. Smaller children unknown and would recommend slow introduction and a watchful eye because of her size and sometimes clumsiness she would easily knock them overTemperament: independent but wants companionship, outgoing, intelligent, happy, playful, loyal, stubborn, persistent, socialMotivators? Food/treats, toys/ballsAny commands? Sit, come (most of the time!), working on down, which she’s picking up super fast so should be an easy student ??House trained? YesCrate trained? Believe so. She’s been in one a couple of times with no issues, but is left to roam the house with her foster brother when humans go outHow long will it take to settle into a new environment? Lucy is cautious and takes a bit of time to warm up, so 4-6 weeks should give her lots of time to get used to her new surroundings and new humans, but will still need ample time to fully settle in.3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Lucy entered her foster home with fear and anger, she had been through a lot. Over time she learned to trust both her foster family and her new foster brother and now can’t get enough of us! She likes to bark at birds, squirrels, neighbours in their back yard, passer
