Cane

My story

Cane’s story didn’t start easy — he was attacked by another dog causing severe trauma to his jaw. He sustained a compound fracture to his jaw, orbital bone fractures and essentially a crushed TMJ. He was sadly abandoned at the ER where he was seen for his traumatic injuries, but we stepped in knowing that his life was worth fighting for. Cane was rescued and sent to CSU to see a specialist for his injuries and given the second chance he truly deserves. And boy, has he run with it! This goofy, outgoing pup hasn’t let his past define him. Through his muzzle to stabilize his jaw, his feeding tube to give him nutrients and medication - he has been such a champ. Every person who has met him has been impressed with his resilience. He’s full of love, tail wags, and a contagious zest for life. Cane adores people and gets along great with other dogs — you’d never guess what he’s been through!  With his feeding tube and muzzle removed, he has significantly healed from his injuries with full range of motion in his jaw. He is is eating and chewing and playing like nothing has ever happened!  Per the oral specialist he was seeing at CSU, he will require another surgery around 7 months to extract any teeth that might be causing traumatic contact from his malocclusion. However, due to Cane being an overnight sensation through social media, we have an anonymous donor who has donated up to 2k for his future surgery!! This brave boy is more than worth the extra care — Cane has so much joy, love, and silliness to bring to his forever family. He is deeply loved in the FOJR community and beyond.
