Hi, I’m Dory! I just came to Minnesota from Alabama with my two siblings. We were left in the woods to fend for ourselves, and were in pretty rough shape when someone found us and gave us food and shelter. I look and feel a lot better now!My first day here, I was afraid to go in the house; my foster mom thinks I’ve never been in one before. She had to carry me in and out. It only took me one day to see the advantages of being allowed indoors, and now I happily go in and out by myself. I have found several great places to relax when I’m done exploring. My foster family wants you to know:• I do my business outside; so far I haven’t had any accidents.• I sleep through the night in a crate. I’d prefer to sleep with you if you’ll let me! (Also, I am VERY good at stretching after a rest!)• So far, I have only barked a few times. And it was absolutely necessary.• I eat politely, at a good pace. Unlike the other dog that lives here!• I’m a little timid in new situations, but will warm up quickly.• I show affection with loving gazes, putting my head on your lap or hand, and nuzzling your neck! I give kisses, but not too many.• I like toys, especially stuffies; so far I haven’t torn any apart.• I like boxes too. I DO tear those apart (if you say it’s okay).• I play well with my people, and am also very good at entertaining myself.• I’m respectful of the older dog that lives here with me. I’m told she usually barks and growls at the foster dogs, but she’s been really nice to me. I haven’t met very many other dogs yet.• Because I’ve been on my own so much, things like basic commands and walking on a leash are still new to me. I am treat-motivated and want to please my people, so I’m learning fast. It also helps that I’m very smart.• TV fascinates me! I sometimes like to watch it and say a little “woof” to the dog friends I see on the screen! My foster mom tells me a lot that she loves me. I have a few small scars on my legs, and she wishes I could tell her my back story. If I could talk, I'd tell her I’m just happy to be here now, and am only looking forward… forward to showing her – and my forever family – how grateful I am by being my best self every single day.I am also looking forward... to meeting you!--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.
