My story

Teenie is a 4-year-old, medium-sized girl (around 40 pounds) with a heart as big as her soulful eyes. Teenie is now in a loving foster home where her sweet personality is shining brighter each day. She’s the perfect blend of playful energy and lapdog snuggles, making her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend.Teenie adores being with her people. She’s happiest when she can follow you from room to room, “helping” with your daily activities, and she thrives on attention, pets, and playtime. She isn’t one to enjoy being by herself for long stretches—she really wants to be part of the family action. That said, she’s not demanding or destructive; she just loves the closeness of her humans. This girl has an impressive amount of energy (her foster rates her an 8 out of 10), which shows up as enthusiasm for walks, playtime, and companionship. She loves going for walks and is a dream on leash—steady, responsive, and calm. Her foster mom shared a favorite memory: one morning they passed through a forested area and came across four deer. While one deer stayed behind to watch, Teenie quietly observed, never pulling, barking, or straining at the leash. They simply exchanged calm glances until the walk continued. It’s moments like this that show how gentle, composed, and easygoing she truly is, even in new situations. When she’s not out exploring, Teenie is all about play and affection. She enjoys engaging directly with her foster mom, whether that’s through play or cuddle time. Once she’s had her fun, she’s quick to settle down for snuggles—she really is a lapdog at heart. At night, she rests calmly in her crate, and she’s fully house-trained. Teenie is also food-motivated and enjoys her meals. Teenie has met dogs at the shelter and has done well with gentle, easygoing friends. She’d likely be happiest either as the center of attention or with a canine sibling who shares her mellow energy. She requests to meet any resident dogs to make sure they`re a good match! At the end of the day, Teenie is a dog who simply wants love, companionship, and a soft place to land. She’s not just a pet—she’s a shadow, a snuggle buddy, and a loyal walking partner who will bring peace and joy into her forever home.If you think Teenie might be the one, she would love to meet you! Please fill out an application and email dogfosters@barcs.org for next steps.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Teenie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
