T’Challa was adopted from DACC several years ago by a family who adored him beyond measure. Then came Shuri — a spunky little tripod rescue with the heart of a lion — and from the moment they met, the two became inseparable. They ate together, played together, curled up together at night. They were not just “dogs in the same home” — they were family to each other.Their mom loved them fiercely. She even planned ahead when heading off to school, securing a private room so her babies could come with her. Everything was set… until the very last moment when an unexpected change shattered those plans: a new student, allergic to dogs, would be sharing her space.With only days to figure something out, their mom faced the impossible. She couldn’t leave them with her own mother, who is severely allergic and has health issues. There was no safe place for them to go. Heartbroken and desperate, she turned to us — not because she wanted to give them up, but because she loved them enough to make sure they stayed together and found a new family who could give them the life they deserve.Now, Shuri and T’Challa are waiting for someone who understands that they belong side by side. They are well-behaved, deeply bonded, and will fill your home with double the love. They’ve already lost their person — but they don’t have to lose each other.If you’ve ever dreamed of having two loyal companions who already come with a built-in best friend, this is your chance to change both their lives forever.**Here’s some info on Shuri:-Cute lil tripod gal!-She gets around great and doesn’t know she’s missing a leg. Nothing is stopping her!-Likes treats, sits and takes them nicely. Not super food motivated though.-Friendly and enjoys being on your lap for pets-Not currently playing with toys but loves playing with her big brother!-She definitely looks for her brother T’Challa for reassurance and support. She pauses on walks and looks back to see if he’s coming too. She would be lost without him.Here’s T’Challa deets:-Friendly boy who likes to be close for pets. Lap dog and kiss giver!-Treat motivated, “sits” and takes them very nicely-Not currently playing with toys but loves romping around with his sister!-Pulls a bit on the leashUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
