My story

Jake here! Pleased to meet you! I am one cool cat, or maybe a chill-i dog. I like my people and my walks and my naps and I live my life unbothered. I’m just a young guy, but I already know my house manners. I think walks are fun. I never pull on the leash, but strolls would go better if my partner just let me lead! Luckily, I am medium-sized, so it doesn’t matter so much if I decide to merge. I prefer to be with my people, but I will pass the time napping when they’re not around. I only bark when I’m asking you to play. I am funny that way. I aim to please, and I’m very observant so training should be a breeze (PS I like treats).Let’s meet!Jake is heartworm positive and is awaiting a negative test result. His treatment has been completed but he recently had a positive microfilaria test. He will need topical heartworm prevention each month until the microfilaria test is negative- preventatives will be provided by the rescue until his next test. He will need a microfilaria test every 3 months to follow up on his treatment progress until he has a negative result. During these months, he will need to be on exercise restrictions and not have an elevated heart rate until he receives a negative microfilaria test. Other than the topical preventatives, these medical needs will be the responsibility of the adoptive family. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions.
