Meet Argent. This 6-month-old handsome fellow had a rough start to life, so he may look a little ragged right now, but just wait – he is going to be a showstopper. Once his long, soft fur grows in, there will be no holding him back! He was found unceremoniously dumped at an active cat colony beside a busy highway. He was severely malnourished and battling an upper respiratory infection, worms, and tummy troubles. It was immediately clear that he didn't belong there and wasn't built to be a feral cat. He is way too sweet-natured and non-confrontational to be in that environment – he would frequently share a pile of cat food with the local raccoons. They would just eat peacefully alongside without any issue. Poor, skinny Argent was so grateful for something to eat, he didn’t even care. It took a few nights to fully gain his trust and catch him, but he is proving that he is well worth the wait. He arrived to foster covered in feces, mats, scabs, burrs, and general filth. After being given 24 hours to decompress, it was into the tub. He was scrubbed down, given a nail trimming, and had his matting brushed out, cut, and shaved. Most cats would have staged a dramatic protest, and while Argent didn’t really like it, it never occurred to him to fight it. If there was ever a time for a cat to have a meltdown, it would have been here, yet he just accepted it gracefully. He seems blissfully unaware that claws can be used for anything other than kneading biscuits while happily curled up in a loving lap, which is exactly what he did right after his grooming session was over. Argent is going to be a big boy. At an estimated 6 months, he is already tipping the scales at over 8 pounds. His coat may be a little patchy from his spa day (and the crazy lady with the scissors), but with good nutrition it’s already softening and beginning to shine. In a few months, he will be downright magnificent. Given that he started his life with a questionable masked dining partner, we anticipate that he would adapt to and thrive in pretty much any situation. While a quiet and calm home may suit him best due to his mellow personality, really all he needs is a warm lap and someone to shower him with love. He is fine with other cats, dogs, and, as we know, raccoons. (Disclaimer: raccoons are not recommended.) Argent will occasionally bat around toys, but generally, he just wants his human to love on him. If you’re looking for an easy-going cat with lots of love to give, this is your guy!
