My story

If there was a competition for kitty snuggling, Aries would definitely win a blue ribbon! He's all about people. He'll follow you around, making your humdrum day fun and then jump into bed with you for pleasant dreams. This indoor kitty is accustomed to living with adults and teens, and has not been around small children. He has, however, cultivated a circle of both feline friends (including brother Panther also at Dakin) and one dachshund a/k/a wiener dog. Aries can't get enough pets (even on the tummy!), but he is selective as to who will have the privilege of picking him up. When you bring this boy home, be sure to have fun things ready for him! He loves swatting at wand toys, diving through tunnels and waiting for the sweet sound of crackly toys, which is music to his ears. Looking for a blue ribbon kitty? Aries is definitely a winner! Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
