My story

Meet Fam, a 3-year-old female Jack Russell Terrier weighing in at just 10–12 pounds. With one brown ear, one speckled ear, and the sweetest little nose you’ve ever seen, she’s as adorable as they come — but right now, Fam is still learning that people can be safe and kind. Fam came to us as a breeder surrender, and the world outside of that life is brand new to her. She’s extremely shy and tends to retreat to cozy, cave-like spaces (her crate bed is her safe haven). Loud noises, new people, and sudden movements make her nervous, and she may cower or hide when approached. She’s not quite ready for walks yet, and her potty habits are still a work in progress. That said, each small step forward is worth celebrating! Just recently, she took cheese from her foster family’s hands for the first time. She also peeks her little nose out to check on where they are, a sign that her curiosity is starting to peek through her fear. Fam will need an exceptionally patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. A quiet home with a consistent routine will help her blossom. While she’s available for adoption now, she is still in the very early stages of decompressing, and anyone interested should be prepared to go slow, give her space, and let her set the pace. In the right home, we know she has the potential to come out of her shell and show the joyful dog she can be. We’ll be sharing updates as Fam takes baby steps toward confidence and joy — follow along on Instagram at @trixiesrescuecrew to cheer her on. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at WaldosRescue.org and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog. We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs' needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2487030##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Fam, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
