SHORTY is an absolute sweetie pie. She was incredibly timid the night she arrived on the bus up from Georgia (she is a breeder surrender and looks to have had several litters thus far in her life), she has blossomed into the playful, curious, loyal and loving dog she was always meant to be. We are not sure if she was ever let out of her cage, or ever let outdoors for that matter, so now that she is in NYC she is LOVING going on walks with her foster siblings, sitting in her foster mom's lap and people-watching in the park, and frolicking before and after meal times with soft toys and her foster siblings. She is so interested in all the new things her new life has to offer that she sometime falls asleep sitting up :) she wants in on all the action even when she clearly needs a nap. Personality & Characteristics: Shorty is loving and curious. She loves to play with fuzzy toys and adores amazon deliveries because she gets to frolick with the kraft paper package padding. Her favorite time of day is breakfast (and dinner!). She has a healthy appetite and prances and dances around while her meal comes out of the fridge. Because she is a breeder surrender, she is still timid when meeting new people and can be shy when people she does not know lean over her or try to pick her up. This behavior is typical of dogs that have been kept indoors or in cages their whole life, and is one that will certainly abate over time in a loving home. She is silky and soft and her face wrinkles are just plain adorable. This girl is pure love. My foster dog is good with: Great with other dogs and extermely playful with her foster siblings . She can be shy around larger dogs at first, but once she meets them and gains some trust she is more comfortable around them. She is great around other little dogs. We don't know if she is good with cats as there has been no exposure to that yet, but my guess is that with a friendly cat she will likely be fine as Shorty doesnt have a mean bone in her body. Shorty is great with my baby, a 9 month old and is great with older children as well. My foster dog is: We don't know if Shorty was ever let out of her cage or let outdoors in the past but in just one month she has went from using pads indoors to going potty outside completely!! Shorty is a very quick learner especially if she has a sibling to learn from! Shorty is not great with indoor stairs yet, I suspect because she never has been exposed to them. With practice she may learn how to go up and down stairs. Currently she is comfortable going up and down the outdoor stairs for the deck and may begin using indoor steps. 3 Keywords for your pup: LOVING, LOYAL, CUDDLY Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 5 Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Quiet pup most of the time , when startled by unknown noise she may bark OR when she's excited for your arrival at home she can't contain her excitement to see you. Walking Manners: Great on a leash - stays right besides her foster mom. Can be startled by large trucks or big booming noises. Appetite: Healthy appetite! She loves mealtime and takes treats willingly Favorite Things: Cuddling with her foster mom and foster siblings, playing with her foster siblings during the day, MEALTIME :) and did we mention snuggling? Commands/Tricks: She is learning "UP UP UP" as a cue that a person will lean down to pick her up. She follows when off leash in the fenced backyard but when she goes off on her own and is called to " go inside" she listens and follows to come back in. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at WaldosRescue.org and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog. We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea. ##2486615##
