My story

Meet Leighton – The Brave-Hearted Explorer At just five weeks old, Leighton and his four siblings were thrown out of their home and cruelly separated from their mother. Left in a yard littered with cut-down trees, they were found starving, weak, and scattered — some trapped under brush, others barely clinging to life. A kind neighbor heard their cries and brought them to Small Lives Matter Kitten Rescue, where they finally received warmth, food, and the love they so desperately needed. From the moment he arrived, Leighton proved himself to be the bold leader of the group. This handsome boy is always the first to investigate a new toy, climb to a new perch, or greet a visitor with curious eyes. His adventurous spirit shines through in everything he does — but so does his loving heart. Beneath that confident, explorer’s nature is a gentle snuggler who melts into your lap for attention and purrs like he’s known you forever. Leighton is playful, intelligent, and outgoing, making him the perfect companion for someone who enjoys both lively kitten antics and quiet cuddle time. He adores his siblings and would be happiest with a feline friend to share his days — or even better, to go home with one of his brothers or sisters. After a rough beginning, Leighton is ready for a forever home where he will always be safe, cherished, and free to explore without fear. In return, he’ll give you endless affection, companionship, and joy. We have dozens of cats and kittens available! All our adoptable cats are located at the Frisky Cat Cafe in St Augustine. 1092 Ponce De Leon Blvd (US 1). Visiting the cafe is a great way to find your perfect kitty. All of our cats and kittens are socialized and happy to interact with visitors, so you will meet them with their true personalities.
