They thrive when included as part of the family and are often nicknamed “nanny dogs” for their gentle nature with children. Birdie embodies these traits with her sweet, trusting personality, even as she’s recovering from being underweight. She has moderate energy now but may become more playful as she regains her health, making her a perfect mix of cuddle companion and walking buddy. Birdie’s Story & Personality: Birdie is a petite American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a gentle soul. She literally loves everyone she meets and can't get enough human attention and affection. She wants to be by your side all the time and give you lots of kisses! She is the perfect little lap dog. She’s currently working her way back to a healthy weight and building her confidence in her home manners. She does well with other dogs (with a proper meet and greet), loves all people including kids, and enjoys her daily walks. While she can be left alone without being crated, she does experience some separation anxiety, so she’s happiest when she’s close to her people. With time, stability, and love, Birdie is sure to blossom into an even more vibrant and joyful companion. Birdie’s Ideal Home: Someone home often (work-from-home or retired preferred) A fenced yard for play and safety Family willing to continue her training and help her gain confidence A patient and loving environment where she can feel secure Ready to Give Birdie the Love She Deserves? Birdie has all the love in the world to give, and she’s ready to find her forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who will adore you endlessly, Birdie might just be the perfect match. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!August 11, 2025, 10:19 am
