This gentle giant is Chief! He was surrendered to the shelter on 8/9 because Chief was left with his owner's mother who is unable to care for him. It is noted that Chief is house trained and he's good with children. The volunteers have been getting to know Chief and so far he's been calm and fairly relaxed in the overwhelming shelter environment. He is quiet in his kennel and spends his time relaxing on his bed. He is initially a little shy, but warms up quickly with gentle pets and reassurance. We suspect Chief may be deaf. He doesn't seem to respond to any voice commands or noises. Chief is an XL sized dog and is rather independent. He hasn't been motivated by treats, but that may be because he's still adjusting in the shelter. Chief will need a family that has experience with deaf dogs so that you can communicate with one another and ensure a successful, forever home. Chief is 5 years old and weighs 107 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, has been microchipped, and did test negative for heartworms. He will be neutered upon adoption. Please come meet Chief in run 883; his ID # is 12654. Please note, all of the pet listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers, not shelter staff. If this cat or dog came in as lost (not as an owner surrender), we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When calling the shelter about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER; names are oftentimes made up by volunteers. This pet and many others are available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, call (770) 499-4136 for more information. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only until further notice. CLOSED Mondays & Holidays.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt CHIEF, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
