**$145 in pledges for the rescue that pulls** Goldie ACCT-A-227167 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Goldie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by THURSDAY, AUGUST 21ST at 10AM. Should Goldie’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Goldie came to ACCT Philly as a stray on July 29th, with overgrown nails, wounds, and an abnormal gait. Despite her rough condition, Goldie has shown herself to be a gentle, low-energy, and food-motivated girl who enjoys slow walks and calm company. In her time at the shelter, she has won staff and volunteer hearts with her sweet, steady personality. She loves chewing on durable toys like Nylabones, takes treats gently, and has even enjoyed some quiet time in an office. While she sometimes shows a bit of shyness or hesitation with handling around her neck and ears, she recovers well and checks in with people in a friendly, loose-bodied way. Goldie is the kind of dog who appreciates patience and calm environments where she can feel secure. Goldie arrived with pressure sores, pododermatitis, and wounds, and she has a heart murmur that will need follow-up with a cardiologist. Goldie is calm and doesn't seem to mind other dogs, so please bring all members of your household and any resident dogs along for a meet. Due to her length of stay, Goldie is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. VIDEOS: Goldie and Zena Meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/zCSVgFsen0k BEHAVIOR: Per staff 8/16: Low energy. Very food motivated. Bring treats to throw on path + she will come willingly. Very sweet girl. Per volunteer 8/15: Mild issues getting out of kennel, moderate issues returning. Mild issues with shyness. Low energy. "Did not want to walk, had to pick her up into kennel." Per volunteer 8/8: Great girl, sits very calm. Per staff 8/3: Sweet, very calm girl. Took her on a walk and she was slightly aloof, but would give me some tail wags. Preferred to explore the play yard and do her own thing, but would check in with me periodically and approached me in a loose, friendly manner. Brought her into the office, and she started taking possession of office objects right away - she wasn't chewing them up or being destructive per se, but got out a bunch of items from a drawer, took a few things out of the trash, etc. and just left them on the floor. She also tried to chew on the cat tree in our office, so we removed it and gave her a variety of toys to pick from. She definitely preferred chewing on the hard Nylabone/Benebone type of toys. Doesn't appear to be possessive of toys and would allow me to pick them up without issue. Very food motivated but doesn't know sit yet. She overall did well with handling, but when I was putting a collar on her or trying to remove my leash, she did tense up slightly, put her ears back and lip lick. Her ears are quite fly bitten so may be sensitive of handling around her neck/ears. Leaving in the office overnight to see how she does. Placed back in kennel - while Goldie was not super destructive or difficult to manage in the office, she was continually taking things off the desks and was chewing on plastic bags/puppy pads that we had in the office. She didn't actually chew up anything except the plastic bags and puppy pads, but was concerned she might ingest this material overnight when not monitored, so returned her to a kennel. Per staff 8/3: Based on walk sheet notes and observing him on walks with staff, leveling green. Walks slowly, unfazed by other dogs. Per staff 8/3: Low energy. Food motivated! Per staff 7/31: BAR, very sweet. Allowed all handling. Per volunteer 7/30: Low energy, good dog, slow walks. Per staff 7/29: Caller stated that she saw this dog roaming around the neighborhood, upon location found this dog and put a leash around her. Over grown nails, bite wounds on the ear and walks side ways. MEDICAL: On 8/4, Goldie was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on doxycycline. She tested positive for pneumovirus. On 8/11, her URI signs were worsening with concern for infectious pneumonia. She was prescribed a course of enrofloxacin in addition to the doxycycline. On 8/12, she tested negative for pneumovirus. 7/31 Vet Exam Objective: Mild dental calculus. Thin body condition. Normal gait, ambulatory x 4, brief orthopedic exam. Superficial scratches and wounds noted diffusely over body. No overt ectoparasites. Pododermatitis. Assessment: Grade II/VI systolic heart murmur. Superficial skin wounds. Pododermatitis Plan: Electing to hold on timestamp due to patient being BAR and not clinical for cardiac disease at this time (lethargy, collapse, exercise intolerance, respiratory issues, etc). Still recommend following up with cardiology consult. 7/29 Vet Exam: Subjective: Patient presented for evaluation of emaciation and ambulation. Objective: QAR, normal mentation. Ceruminal debris AU, erythema AU. No nasal discharge. MMs light pink and moist CRT
