My story

Soba is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match! Sweet senior Soba came to us in early June from Chicago Animal Care and Control. Like many of the small dogs we get from CACC, he was immediately friendly, happy, and obviously adorable-- but he was a matted mess, and clearly in need of some medical help. We knew it would be a longer road to getting Soba adoption-ready. Thankfully, our amazing staff member Abby stepped in to foster him and has been his caretaker ever since. Soba got a much-needed grooming, as well as a dental with 15 extractions! Sadly, that glorious bottom tooth that is jutting out in his earlier pictures is no longer with us... Soba lives in perfect harmony with two dogs and two cats. He loves everyone and everything! Soba is finally feeling like his best self, and that really shows in his personality with his newfound zest for life! His foster mom writes, "Despite being 10 years old, Soba has the spirit of a puppy! Soba had all his teeth removed but that does not stop him from playing with his stuffed animals and eating lots of food! He is the friendliest dog you will ever meet and does not have a mean bone in his body! Soba loves other dogs and cats, even if he doesn’t care too much about playing with them, he loves their company and is all about the cuddles. Soba prefers being with his people all day long, so be prepared to gain a second shadow!" This senior dude is so ready to start his next chapter--we hope it is with you! Soba’s adoption fee is $175 (or waived for an adopter 65 or older!). He is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
