My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Sparkler | 3–4 Year Old Mini Schnauzer type Mix | 14 lbs   True to her name, Sparkler lights up every room she’s in! Rescued from an overcrowded Central Valley shelter, this petite, bouncy bundle of love is looking for a forever home that can match her playful spirit and affectionate heart.   Sparkler starts her mornings with a trip to the yard, then keeps herself happily entertained while her foster works from home — often perched on the back of the sofa, peeking out the window, or playing with toys. By evening, she’s ready for her daily walk and then settles in for dinner, cuddles, and a cozy night in her dog bed (right in her foster’s room). She sleeps soundly through the night.   When Sparkler first arrived, she was a little timid, but it didn’t take long for her tail to start wagging at full speed. Now, she’s a goofy, zoomie-loving, toy-chasing, belly-rub enthusiast who adores playing with other small dogs. She would thrive in a home with another playful pup. She’s less of a fan of big dogs and can be a bit much for calmer pets, so an equally fun-loving canine friend is ideal.   Sparkler is housetrained, pad-trained, and knows how to use a doggy door. She does pull on leash (her excitement makes it hard for her to pace herself), and while she enjoys walks, she prefers to do her business in the yard when she can. She’ll need a family who can give her plenty of stimulation — toys, playtime, and interaction — and help her continue polishing her leash manners.   In return, Sparkler will shower you with affection, greet you with the happiest tail wag you’ve ever seen, and be your partner in fun. She’s the perfect match for someone looking for a playful, loving, and loyal companion who can keep up with an active household.   If you’ve been waiting for a little dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Sparkler is ready to brighten your life.August 12, 2025, 12:35 pm
