My story

Darla came to us as a stray from Milwaukee in rough shape—she was suffering from severe mange, scared, and in desperate need of help. Thanks to lots of love and medical care, she’s now no longer contagious and on the road to recovery! While she’s still healing and working on growing her beautiful coat back, Darla is all love. Don’t let her puppy-like looks fool you—this girl is over a year old and has the gentle soul of an old friend. She’s wonderful with children and has never met a person she didn’t adore. Darla is currently receiving medicated baths and daily medication to help her skin heal. She’s thriving with the attention and care, and we’re seeing more of her sweet, playful personality every day. Because she still needs some time to fully recover, Darla is available through our Foster-to-Adopt program. That means her future family can take her home now and we’ll continue to support her medical care until she’s back to full health. All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough.
